What Is Laser Hair Reduction?

Diode lasers use a single wavelength of light that has a high absorption rate in melanin. At the same time it incorporates skin cooling to protect the surface of the skin. As the melanin heats up it destroys the root and blood flow to the follicle and disables the hair permanently.

What To Expect From Results

In many patients the skin is slightly pink for 1-2 days; in others (generally, fairer patients) there is no pinkness after laser hair removal. Hairs begin to fall out in 5-14 days and may continue to do so for weeks.

The first, initial treatment is said to have the most noticeable effects as it ‘shocks’ the follicles with the treatment. The heat from the laser either weakens or completely destroys the hair follicle. Immediately after, the skin may be red and swollen – clients can experience a ‘sun-burn sensation’ this is normal and will subside after a few hours.

We recommend multiple treatments until you get the desired look, this is usually 8-10 sessions done at monthly intervals.

Skin with tattoos can NOT be treated with laser hair removal, we can work around the tattoos but not directly on them.

There are no conclusive studies on laser being safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. We advise our pregnant and breastfeeding clients to obtain medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.
